Inderawi: 15th Sabah Women's Art Exhibition 2025
What the senses remember
With fifteen editions under its belt, this exhibition carries weight. Inderawi starts with the senses , taste, smell, sound, touch and feeling , and follows that line into memory and marks and forms that you can stand in front of. On view are 75 artworks by 39 artists from Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, Thailand and Australia.
These are women looking hard at the world and responding with their own materials and rhythms. Expect work that stays close to lived experience.
There are quiet pieces that reward a slow read. There are also bold pieces that meet you at full volume. Texture matters here. So do light and scale, as well as the small details that lodge in your head after you leave.
The theme is a way to explore what the senses remember and how that memory becomes line, color, surface and space. You will see different answers to the same question, side by side, across generations and borders.
