This year's festival features an impressive lineup of over 13 films, ranging from heartfelt dramas and romantic tales to suspenseful thrillers and comedies, as well as a restored samurai classic.

Among the highlights is Akira Kurosawa's timeless masterpiece, Seven Samurai (1954), a film that continues to inspire filmmakers and audiences worldwide. Alongside this legendary classic, the festival will present an exciting selection of new releases that reflect the depth and diversity of contemporary Japanese cinema.

Audiences can look forward to films such as Northern Food Story, a documentary capturing the landscapes and culinary journeys of Hokkaido's chefs, and Teasing Master Takagi-san, a nostalgic romance rekindling the playful bond between two childhood friends. Cells at Work! is a thrilling live-action adaptation of the beloved manga that brings to life trillions of anthropomorphized cells, and Angry Squad is a tale of a tax investigator-turned-conman on a mission for justice that mixes comedy and drama.

Other notable films include At the Bench, a tender story of families and lovers by photographer-turned-director Yoshiyuki Okuyama; and Petals and Memories, a touching drama about sibling bonds and memories in Osaka. Contemporary themes also take the stage with 6 Lying University Students, a suspenseful take on the high-stakes world of graduate recruitment, and Sunset Sunrise, which is set against the backdrop of Japan's response to the 2020 pandemic.
