North Borneo Rainforest Festival 2025
Two days of music, food, and culture
The rainforest is calling again. On 11 & 12 October, the Koisaan Cultural Village will come alive with music, food, crafts, and the kind of cultural exchange that can only be found in Sabah.
This year's theme is "Pisompuran", a Kadazandusun word meaning “unity”, and the program delivers.
Hailing from Ranau, the legendary Aki Yutam will perform the haunting sounds of the Bungkau and Sundatang. On the main stage, enjoy performances by the Taiwanese Delegation, as well as local icons like sape master Matthew Ngau. There will also be dancing, sompoton, sundatang, and more.
It's not just about watching; it's about joining in! Try your hand at Bundusan weaving with the PACOS Trust team, taste traditional and modern dishes at the Pisompbuvoan Tamu, discover woodcut printing, or sit in on a vinyl listening session. Meet birdwatchers, tattoo artists, and musicians from seven Taiwanese tribes sharing their traditions alongside Sabahans.
Over 20 vendors will be on site with crafts, flavors, and creations that carry the spirit of the rainforest. Every corner of the village will have something to explore, from food stalls and brass workshops to tree-planting and breathing techniques.
Bring your friends and family. For two days, Koisaan is where cultures meet, stories are told, and unity isn't just a theme, it's something you'll taste, hear, and feel.
