When Borneo art scenes meet
For three days, artists, collectives, and creative workers from Brunei, Kalimantan, Sabah, and Sarawak will come together at Sabah Heritage Village for Berkumpul Borneo. This event is organised by Borneo Bengkel and Pangrok Sulap and is part of the Borneo Creative and Culture District 2025 programme.
Think of it as an art hangout in the park. A place to wander, view artwork, listen to stories and observe the various grassroots art movements that are developing their own ecosystems across the island.
The event program
This three-day festival transforms Kampung Warisan Sabah into a vibrant hub for creativity, art, culture, and community.
Across the three days, the programme will include:
Art in the Park
Interactive works and installations in the open air, scattered around the groundsArtisan market
Craft, food and local products from makers and small businessesWorkshops, demonstrations and exhibitions
Activities created in collaboration with art communities from across Borneo, open to all ages and levels of experience.Forums and sharing sessions
Conversations with artists and creative workers about their work, the industry and everyday realities.Live performances
Traditional and contemporary performances showcasing the evolving cultural heritage of Borneo.
Who you will meet
Berkumpul Borneo brings together people who run independent art spaces, initiatives and collectives across the island, including:

- Minority Agenda with Elroy Ramantan
- Kita Ni Kreatif
- Emehdeyeh
- Susur Galur
Each one brings a different approach to working with art, ranging from print and illustration to community programmes and DIY events. Together, they demonstrate the richness and variety of Borneo when viewed from the ground.
