Afro Latin Fever, end of year dance night

End the year in motion!

If you want to end the year on a high note, do it on the dance floor!

Afro Latin Fever is back on Sunday 28 December, organised by KK Dance Art Academy and hosted at The Drunken Door, a speakeasy style bar in KK. It's an easy, friendly night built around three Afro Latin favourites: salsa for bright social energy, bachata for smoother close connection moments, and kizomba for slowing things down and settling into the groove.

Salsa, bright and playful with Afro Cuban roots, is the dance that pulls you onto the floor even if you came “just to watch”.

Bachata, born in the Dominican Republic, is smoother and closer, with a relaxed flow that makes the music feel personal.

Kizomba, from Angola, is slower and more grounded. It's built for feeling the beat in your steps and letting the night soften a little.

The session is led by Arvin Avila, principal of KK Dance Art Academy, also a club DJ and professional dance teacher and choreographer. If you are new to dancing, you will be fine. If you already dance, you know the drill. Either way, come as you are, step in when you feel like it, and end the year moving.
