Water, Memory, and Political Realities
Cinemata is presenting Rising Waters, Raising Rights: Human Rights Through the Lens of Water to Kota Kinabalu, a film program connecting Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia through stories shaped by water, memory, and political realities.
Come along this Saturday for an in-person screening at Ruang Tamu Ekosistem in Alamesra. The program features seven short films, followed by a discussion led by Nadira Ilana, a community curator from CineBah and the Cinemata team.
This screening is part of a larger hybrid program featuring nearly 30 short films, documentaries, and music videos exploring water and human rights. Themes include climate warming, coastal communities, queer currents, home and statelessness, and youth and exclusion.
The full program is available online from 10 to 23 December 2025, across the Asia-Pacific region.
