The Mod Movement
Born in the United Kingdom in the late 1950s, the Mod movement quickly evolved into a full-fledged lifestyle rooted in elegance, musical passion, and urban identity.
Mods were known for their sharp style, tailored suits, slim shirts, and influences from Italian and French fashion. They embraced modern jazz, R&B, soul, and rock 'n' roll. Bands like The Who, The Kinks, and The Small Faces defined their sound.
Their vehicles of choice were scooters, especially Vespa and Lambretta models, often customized as bold personal statements.
But being a mod also meant living for the night. They hung out in cafes, danced for hours, and met in hot spots to express their individuality and freedom.
As for Mayday, it refers to Labor Day on May 1 and evokes youth, renewal, and social resistance, the perfect spirit to carry on the mod legacy.
