International Coastal Clean-Up Day 2025
Beach cleaning activity #93 with Trash Hero
International Coastal Clean-Up Day is a global volunteer action that began in 1986 with Ocean Conservancy. Each September, communities in more than 150 countries remove litter from beaches, rivers and mangroves and record every item collected, building one of the world's largest citizen science datasets on ocean trash.
The point is simple and practical: clean a stretch of coast, learn what ends up there, and use the data to push for better habits and better policies, from single use plastics to waste management.
In Sabah, it is also a morning of teamwork and care for the places we live.
