What Trash Hero does for our beaches

Trash Hero Kota Kinabalu is a volunteer-driven movement that organises regular clean-ups to keep our beaches and coastline free from plastic and other waste. They collect what has already washed ashore, track what is collected, and raise awareness to ensure that less rubbish ends up in the sea in the first place. Taking part in one of their clean-up events is an easy way to help keep Kota Kinabalu's beaches clean for everyone who lives, walks and swims here.

6:30am → 7:00am - Arrival of participants & volunteers

7:00am → 7:30am - Welcoming remarks & brief safety briefing by Head of Trash Hero Kota Kinabalu Chapter.

7:30am - Beach clean-up begins, weighing of collected trash, photo session

10:30am - Dismiss & see you again

Security Rules

• Make sure breakfast has been taken before starting the cleaning activity.
• Anyone who wears slippers please be careful with glass, sharp objects & insects or bugs.
• Do not pick up natural waste such as leaves, branches, seaweed, dead fish, dead animals, stones and the like.
• Make sure plastic bottles are empty.
• If you are tired, please stop to rest for a while and drink water.
• Please use insect repellent spray.
• Apply sunscreen cream (sunscreen / sunblock).
• Be careful when collecting face masks for those who do not wear gloves.
• Do not throw away sacks.
• Have fun & stay safe!
