Bayu Indiechestra Chapter 1
One night, five bands, one orchestra
Bayu Indiechestra Chapter 1 brings a new twist to Rock Night by fusing an orchestra with local bands.
For the first time, Persatuan BAYU proudly presents the Kelab Orkestra Kota Kinabalu Sabah (KOKiS) alongside an impressive lineup of local bands:
BOIL (grunge, Papar), M. Pasola (indie pop rock, Kota Kinabalu), Mythology (metal, Kota Kinabalu), The Checker (punk, Kota Kinabalu), and The Jethroes (hard rock, Kota Kinabalu).
Audience members will enjoy a variety of musical styles and orchestrated sets.
The Dewan Perdana Maksak is the perfect venue for this event; the room is large enough to accommodate a big audience and the sound of the orchestra and bands.
Bring a friend, choose a seat, or stand close and watch the local bands take the stage with KOKiS behind them, one set at a time.

Spotlight on a Few Artists

BOIL (Beyond Our Imagined Lives)
Passionate about the iconic sound of Nirvana, BOIL found its roots in a shared love of Nirvana's music. It's what led them to form their band. While their admiration for Nirvana remains a driving force, they've evolved into creators of their own unique sound. Today they find even greater joy in creating and performing their own original grunge music.

M.Pasola
Established in 2019 with a vision to enrich Kota Kinabalu's vibrant music scene, M.Pasola brings a refreshing blend of contemporary ballads and nostalgic tributes to Malaysian music legends.

The Jethroés
The Jethroés is a hard rock band which was officially formed on 2006. Dressed in rugged black leather jackets, these guys never fail to enchant the audience with their distorted, heavy-driven sound. Are you thirsty for a dark rock'n'roll sound? Let their music set your soul on fire!

Kelab Orkestra Kinabalu Sabah (KOKiS)
KOKiS is both a community orchestra and a circle of Sabah music activists. Its musicians include former UMS students, RTM alumni, and independent graduates of local music schools. The orchestra acts as a living archive by collecting local ethnic songs, keeping the richness of Sabah's music alive, lifting its languages onstage, and reminding audiences that this heritage belongs to them.
The orchestra plays across styles, pairing classical discipline with onstage creativity, and is comfortable moving from concert hall repertoire to collaborations with bands.
